When dark magic witch, Astoria, is witnessed at two crime scenes in the Earthworld, Kyden knows something's not right. Concerned for Nexi's safety, he tries to make her stay in the Otherworld. But Nexi was raised as a human, and her adopted parents taught her to be strong. In other words, there's no way she will let Kyden investigate this on his own.
As they come to realize rogue vampires are working with Astoria intending to overthrow the Mistresses, their thoughts lead back to Lazarus, who had a similar plan. However, Lazarus is long gone, turned into a pile of ash by Nexi's magic. But could there be a connection?
Nexi is back! Along with our favorite guardians, witches, vampires, and werewolves. What a world Stacey Kennedy has created! Perfect for someone who loves these supernatural beings as much as I do.
It was a nice change to see Nexi finally claim what is hers. I'm referring to Kyden, of course. She certainly brought her claws out when Thalia gave him a heated look. Although, it seems Kyden may have a bit of competition. I'm not sure if it's willingly or unwillingly on Nexi's part though.
Which brings me to my next topic: there's a couple of new characters that I really like. First of all, Willow. I mean, who doesn't want a black kitten with an orange-tipped tail who is a familiar that can talk to Nexi, and shifts into a panther in order to protect her? Then, there's Magnus. He shouldn't appeal to me, but he does. He's the Lord of the Underworld. That just screams bad boy, doesn't it? I have a feeling that Kyden is going to have to fight for Nexi in the next installment....this should be fun. Can't wait to read that one!
With an interesting plot and strong characters who share a bond like family, Witches Be Burned is surely an entertaining read. I recommend it!
