Over the Ocean is a story about Jill and Mia's European trip. They are co-workers, not exactly close friends, but when Mia mentioned to Jill that she wanted to go and see her family in Spain, Jill agrees to be her traveling companion. Even though she only wants to go for two weeks and won't be accompanying Mia to Spain. Along the way, they meet some friendly and not-so-friendly strangers, make new friends, and become closer friends themselves.
I have to say that this book didn't really pick up for me until the second time they went to Paris. So, if you're not feeling the book too much, just stick with it. I had a hard time connecting with the characters at first. I also felt like they were somewhat condescending, especially toward some of the people who were less fortunate, which I just didn't like. There were a lot of overly descriptive parts, such as the clothing they were wearing.
A couple of things I did like about the book were the places they visited. The cutest part was when they went to the Eiffel Tower. And there were a couple of parts that I laughed at. It's not like books that I normally read, but it wasn't too bad either.
