Rosemarie Hathaway is a dhampir with an attitude. She is guardian to Moroi vampire princess Vasilisa Dragomir. Her only reason for living is to protect her. They share a rare and special bond. I liked this story, Rose's personality reminds me a lot of myself in high school. She doesn't take anyone's crap ususally, but she has to be on her best behavior or get expelled this time around. But when someone pushes too far and gets to close to a secret Lissa is trying to hide, Rose would rather protect Lissa than worry about expulsion. She always puts Lissa first, even putting her love life on the back burner. The twist in the story surprised me, I didn't even suspect who the person was that was messing with Lissa. It's a good YA story and I want to read more.
